Yoho National Park Budget Lodging
Yoho Valley Road
Marvel at the wonder of Takakkaw Falls from the deck at HI YOHO NATIONAL PARK (Yoho Valley Road, 866/762-4122, late June to September), also known as Whiskey Jack Hostel, which offers basic dormitory accommodation for up to 27 guests, who have use of a communal kitchen and showers.
Lake O’Hara
At Lake O’Hara is the ELIZABETH PARKER HUT (see Lake O’Hara Travel Guide for access details June to Sept. and Jan. to March), one of over a dozen rustic accommodations scattered through the Canadian Rockies that is owned and operated by the Alpine Club of Canada. What stands this accommodation apart from the other Alpine Club properties is its accessibility–just a short walk from the shuttle bus drop-off point at Lake O’Hara. Guests bring their own bedding and food, and sleep in dorm-style beds. Most beds are filled via a lottery system that requires registration by November 1 for the following summer.
