Jasper National Park

MALIGNE LAKE

If you are booked to go to Jasper, you should change your plans as Jasper National Park is closed due to wildfires (as of July 23, 2024). The town of Jasper was partially destroyed by wildfire on July 24-25 and so if you have plans to travel to Jasper at any time in the near future, you should be aware of current closures. There will surely be an official announcement in upcoming days, but it can be assumed that the town will not be open for tourists for the rest of this summer.

Edmonton to Jasper via Highway 16

If you were planning to travel to Jasper from Edmonton, please change your plans. Highway 16 is open as far west as Hinton, but accommodations in town are very limited as rooms are filled with first responders and evacuees.

Banff to Jasper via the Icefields Parkway

The Icefields Parkway northbound is closed at Saskatchewan River Crossing. As of July 25, there is no access to the Columbia Icefield.

How do I cancel Jasper reservations due to the Wildfire?

If you have reservations for hotels that you made directly with the hotel, these should be refunded automatically. If you used a third party agent, you will need to contact that company.

Parks Canada has been automatically cancelling all campground reservations up to August 6th, but this date will surely be pushed forward in the near future
