Lake Louise Shuttles
Lake Louise shuttles are the best way to get around the village and reach Lake Louise from Banff. Public transit in Banff National Park and Lake Louise has improved greatly in recent years.
The easiest way to travel between Banff and Lake Louise or Moraine Lake is with ROAM TRANSIT which operates regular, year-round service to Lake Louise and summer-only service to Moraine Lake for a very reasonable fare. You will need to make reservations online through ROAM Transit to ensure a seat.
Reserving a Lake Louise Shuttle
Between mid-May and mid-October, PARKS CANADA shuttles depart for Lake Louise from the Lake Louise Ski Resort (also called the Lake Louise Park and Ride) daily between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Reservations for shuttles open in spring, and additional seats are released for sale online 8 a.m. two days prior to departure day. There are no walk-ons. You must have an outbound reservation.
Reservations for travel from Lake Louise back to Lake Louise Ski Resort are not required. Instead, you can stay as long as you choose and either return directly or jump aboard the Lake Connector shuttle to Moraine Lake. See also Getting to Moraine Lake.
or visit the Parks Canada Shuttle webpage. Another source of Lake Louise transit information is pc.gc.ca/banffnow.
Parking at Lake Louise
Parking at Lake Louise is very limited. Paid parking is in effect at Lake Louise from June to mid-October. When the parking lot at Lake Louise is full (often by 6 am in summer), vehicles will be turned away and directed to the Lake Louise Ski Resort parking lot for shuttle service.
Parking at Moraine Lake
As of 2023, there is no public parking at Moraine Lake. The only access is via ROAM TRANSIT from Banff or a PARKS CANADA shuttle from Lake Louise Ski Resort. See also Getting to Moraine Lake.
