Best Canmore Cafes in 2024
The best Canmore cafes in 2024 are mostly in downtown and within walking distance of the main street. The cafes below include new openings and long-time favourites.
ALDER CAFÉ (1020 Spring Creek Dr.), in Spring Creek Village, is Canmore’s newest café in 2023. Part of a much larger development just off Canmore’s main street, the Alder is a large, modern space with excellent coffee from local Eclipse Coffee Roasters, over-sized scones, cooked breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, and rice bowls, all at reasonable prices.
Also at Spring Creek Village, within the Malcolm Hotel is the PULSE COFFEE BAR (321 Spring Creek Dr.), with the same high-quality drinks and food but in a hotel environment. The café is part of a larger shop specializing in Alberta gourmet foods and crafts.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN BAGEL COMPANY (830 8th St.) is a popular downtown early-morning gathering spot for locals. With a central location, it’s always busy but manages to maintain an inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to start the day with a good strong coffee and fruit-filled muffin.
Down one block, BEAMER’S COFFEE BAR (737 7th Ave.) is a smaller space with equally good coffee. Out on the Bow Valley Trail in the Shops of Canmore complex is another BEAMER’S COFFEE BAR (Shops of Canmore, 300 Old Canmore Rd.)—this one is the perfect place to relax at an outdoor table and watch the world of Canmore pass you by. Both Beamer’s open at 6:30 am.
East from Shops of Canmore is the Solara Resort, where you’ll find TAKE A HIKE MARKET (187 Kananaskis Way), which has excellent coffee, gourmet teas, and all the supplies you’ll need for a picnic or hiking trip.
Back downtown, it’s all about quality beans at CANARY COFFEE (710 8th St.), a modern space that also serves up soups and sandwiches.
Away from the downtown core, ECLIPSE COFFEE ROASTERS (1516 Railway Ave.) has the best coffee in town. You can sit inside, out front, or buy beans to go.
In the same strip mall, JK BAKERY (1514 Railway Ave.) supplies regular and European-style bread to shops and restaurants throughout the Canadian Rockies. A small cafe out front serves up soups, sandwiches, and pastries, as well as freshly baked bread to go.
Also away from downtown, near where Cougar Creek enters Canmore from the Fairholme Range, is the SUMMIT CAFE (1001 Cougar Creek Dr.). It features a health-conscious menu including lots of salads, but many people come just to soak up the sun on the outside deck with a coffee.
