Moraine Lake and Yoho Valley Roads close for the season

Autumn on the Yoho Valley Road

A sure sign of autumn is the seasonal closure of roads to Moraine Lake and the Yoho Valley. Both roads will be officially gated for the season on Tuesday, October 15.

But no one in Lake Louise or Field is crying over the closures. With a high pressure building in and a week of magnificent Indian summer weather predicted, locals and other savvy outdoor folk will be enjoying these vehicle-free roads for cycling, rollerblading, running, and hiking. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

Lake O’Hara Seasonal Road Closure

Bus service has also ended on the Lake O’Hara Road, but cyclists are not permitted on the road even after the season is over. However, you can still hike the road to the lake, a very special day trip after the crowds are gone.
