Canmore Cycling

Canmore is very popular with cycling and mountain biking enthusiasts, with the center of most action being the Canmore Nordic Centre. This sprawling complex on the outskirts of Canmore was built for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. The cross-country skiing and biathlon (combined cross-country skiing and rifle shooting) events were held here, and today the center remains a world-class training ground for Canadian athletes in a variety of disciplines. In summer, mountain biking is possible on 70 kilometers (43.5 miles) of trails. Bike rentals are available at Trail Sports (below the Canmore Nordic Centre day lodge, 403/678-6764, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily); $22 per hour and $55 per day for a front-suspension bike, $28 and $80, respectively, for a full suspension bike.
